Texans keep Mike Vrabel by giving him a promotion

Texans assistant coach Mike Vrabel had interest from other teams but will stay in Houston and be promoted to defensive coordinator, according to multiple reports.

The odd part about this move is that there wasn’t an opening for defensive coordinator in Houston. Romeo Crennel held that spot and now will be shifted to another role, reportedly as an assistant head coach. It’s unclear what his duties will be and whether Crennel, who’ll turn 70 before next season, will continue to call defensive plays.

According to MMQB’s Albert Breer, Vrabel, 41, received interest from the Chargers and Redskins for the same position. The Texans didn’t want to lose their talented coach, so they decided this was the best option for everyone.

Vrabel, a former Patriots linebacker, began his coaching career at Ohio State. He then became the linebackers coach for Houston in 2014 and has held that position until now.

Tom Brady did a Tom Brady thing. New England’s first touchdown came from a mismatch, a linebacker trying to cover a running back out of the backfield. The Patriots’ second offensive touchdown came the same way, this time to James White on a wheel route. Brady’s throw, as we’ve come to expect, was Cheap Hockey Jerseys From China perfect. The 19-yard score capped a nine-play, 90 yard drive. 24-13, Patriots.

There’s the Brock Osweiler we know. The Houston quarterback had avoided turnovers until the 7:19 mark in the third quarter, when his deep pass intended for DeAndre Hopkins was picked off by Devin McCourty. The New England safety returned the interception four yards to the Patriots’ 44-yard line.
