Chad Henne will visit Titans

The planned defense of linebacker Vontaze Burfict to an alleged PED violation, as leaked to and explained by Adam Schefter of ESPN, doesn’t hold water. We’ve since tracked down some more details about the apparent effort to avoid the suspension (and to prevent the voiding of all remaining guarantees in Burfict’s deal). While he still has serious problems with his case, there’s at least a little possible merit to his position, even if it was previously not leaked and/or not fully explained by the recipient of the leak.

Josina Anderson of ESPN reports that the Cowboys have informed Scandrick he will be released.

The 31-year-old Scandrick is still capable of starting when healthy, but he’s coming off a season in which he missed five games with back and hand injuries. He hasn’t ed all 16 games in a season since 2013.

Now Scandrick will be a free agent, and he’ll hope to convince some team he can stay healthy and get one more contract worthy of a starting cornerback.

The Jets have the largest offer out to free agent defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (Twitter link). Jordan Schultz of Yahoo Sports was the first to report (via Twitter) that New York had expressed interest in Suh.

Gang Green hadn’t been previously mentioned as a suitor for Suh, and his potential destinations were though to be narrowed to the Rams, Saints, and Titans. The Jets have the most cap space of any of the teams involved in the bidding, and while they haven’t yet set up a visit with Suh, they have explained how they would deploy the veteran interior defender.

Fiedorowicz joined the Texans as a 2014 fourth-round pick and turned in his biggest NFL season with 54 catches for 559 yards and four touchdowns in 2016. He missed 11 games because of concussions last season, however, and the team will have to make other plans at the position for the 2018 season.

The transaction report also brings word that the Texans have signed defensive end Angelo Blackson. He had nine tackles in nine games for the Texans last season.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone added some intrigue into Friday’s 5-0 loss to the Boston Red Sox by changing his mind about throwing slugger Aaron Judge into the leadoff spot.

It was fun watching big No. 99 start the Yankees’ first by working the Real Cheap Jerseys count to 2-2 before being rung up on an outside fastball by Red Sox left-hander Sports Cheap Jerseys Brian Johnson.

This was the story of the day.
