Slumping Spurs welcome surging Lakers

San Antonio will look to get back on track and take advantage of its home floor when it goes back to work against the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas.

The Spurs, who have lost four of their past five games and seven of their last 10 outings, gave up a 15-point, second-half lead on Wednesday when they lost to surging New Orleans 121-116. It was an uncharacteristic loss for San Antonio because of two things: The Spurs’ lack of interior defense in the final minutes and three turnovers in a stretch of four possessions in the clutch with the game on the line.

Curry turned his right ankle and left the game in the first quarter. He returned for his high-scoring second period before retreating to the locker room for good in the third — despite his objections.

Ball, who shot 41.2 percent from 3 while at UCLA last season, is shooting the 3 better from every spot behind the arc. He also is shooting 52 percent in the restricted area since November, after going just 44 percent to start the season.

According to Second Spectrum, Ball is making more difficult shots, as well, hitting 42 percent on 74 contested 3-point attempts since October and November, when he shot 24 percent on 75 contested 3s.

Getting back to that form could be a tall order. Just before the break, the Jazz won 11 straight contests and vaulted themselves into the heat of the Western Conference chase. And they showed flashes of that form Friday in a 116-108 home win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, during which Mitchell scored 26.

On Friday, Utah plays the Sacramento Kings at the Golden 1 Center, a contest that figures to offer the Jazz an opponent and a venue that could be conducive to getting them back on a winning streak.

The Kings are enjoying the rare experience of coming off a home victory. Sacramento’s 116-111 overtime victory over the Brooklyn Nets ended a four-game home losing streak and a five-game skid overall. It also marked only its second victory on the home floor in their past 11 tries, and just their ninth home win all season.

They’ll try to post consecutive wins at home for the first time since Best Place For Cheap Jerseys November and likely will have to do so without center Willie Cauley-Stein (back strain), who listed as doubtful.

Rookie De’Aaron Fox helped lead the win over Brooklyn with 21 points, only the third time all season he’s reached 20. He’s also averaging 5.0 assists per game in four contests since the break. Fellow rookie Bogdan Bogdanovic added 23 points against the Nets, his second-highest Cheap Authentic NBA Jerseys scoring total of the season, and is shooting 45 percent from 3-point range since play resumed.

Tomlin vented to his buddy and former boss in Dungy — it’s unlikely he’ll make a habit of it.

Following one of the biggest wins of his career, a 31-16 victory over Ohio State on Sept. 9, Mayfield planted an Oklahoma flag at midfield of Ohio Stadium. Two days later, he apologized, saying he “didn’t mean for it to be disrespectful.”

What worries Tomlin is the fact that the Patriots have the NFL’s top-ranked passing offense. Facing Brady’s quick release and clutch play in big games is a major challenge. So the Steelers coach wants to create a mindset in his players that they can beat any team in the league, including the Patriots. It’s also clear the Patriots’ AFC title game win over the Steelers in January sticks in Tomlin’s craw because the Steelers were badly outplayed on the big stage.

Tomlin also knows who’s coming up on the Steelers’ schedule before the Pats game. He’s not worried about his players overlooking two heated division rivals, the Bengals and Ravens, over the next two weeks. Tomlin surely will have his players focused on the task at hand, because if they falter, the Patriots game may not affect the battle for home field.

But while Van Gundy thought he’d be an excellent pro, he draws the line at anyone who suggests they knew Tatum was going to emerge as a legitimate 3-point threat at the NBA level.

Heck, a graphic displayed during the draft broadcast pinpointed Tatum’s Cheap NFL Jerseys USA biggest weakness as 3-point shooting.

Also in that eye-for-an-eye spirit, a disturbing word was thrown out during and after the game, including by Brown: “Karma.”

Anti-Steelers fans took it to a dark place. They saw Shazier’s Best Place For Cheap Jerseys injury as “what he deserved” for violently knocking out Bernard in that infamous playoff meeting. Likewise, when Burfict was down from Smith-Schuster’s block, anti-Bengals/Burfict fans felt as though Burfict was receiving justice for taking out Brown in that same game.
